Einstein Bros. Announces Voluntary Recall on Darn Good Atlantic Smoked Salmon Retail Product

LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Dec. 31, 2012 -- Today, the Food and Drug Administration announced a voluntary recall with Marinos Delifish S.A. As a customer of a subsidiary of Delifish S.A., Einstein Bros. is taking the precautionary measure to voluntarily issue a recall of its Darn Good Atlantic Smoked Salmon 4 oz. retail packaged product at its stores nationwide.

The supplier notified Einstein Bros. of a potential threat of listeria monocytogenes when minimal traces were identified in some of its smoked salmon product. No traces have been found in Einstein Bros. Darn Good Atlantic Smoked Salmon retail product and the FDA’s announcement does not include the sandwich product, however Einstein Bros. is taking the precautionary step to remove all smoked salmon product from this supplier at its stores nationwide at this time.

No illnesses have been reported at any Einstein Noah Restaurant Group restaurant with regards to this recall.

This recall applies to Einstein Bros. Darn Good Atlantic Smoked Salmon 4 oz Retail package UPC #099892315200, Lot #'s = 249 thru 291 and is isolated to Georgia and Illinois.

Any consumer that has purchased the retail product that falls within the listed lot numbers above can return the product to our stores for a full refund. The three digit lot number can be located on the white sticker on the front of the retail package.

Einstein Bros. is currently in the process of evaluating options with regards to ongoing supply in order to quickly resume the sale of lox products at its stores.
